Arlington is a town of around 374,000 residents, located mid-way between Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas. The city, once a small farming community, grew exponentially during the 1960s as several manufacturing plants moved into the area. Arlington is best known as the home of the Texas Rangers baseball team and the Dallas Cowboys football team, as well as Six Flags Over Texas amusement park.

Shopping and Dining

Arlington residents will find plenty of shopping in the area. The Parks at Arlington offers more than 100 retailers. Lincoln Square, in the shadow of AT&T Stadium and Texas Ranger's Ball Park, offers several dozen retailers and restaurants, and Arlington Highlands, the newest of the city's shopping centers, combines dozens of shops with restaurants, offices, and apartments.

Owners of Arlington real estate have a wide selection of restaurants from which to choose without venturing too far from home. Local favorites include Cacharel for steaks and seafood in an elegant setting, Piccolo Mondo for Italian cuisine, Pappasito's Cantina for Mexican, Prince Lebanese Grill (featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives), and good home cookin' at the famous Babe's Chicken Dinner House.

Parks and Recreation

Arlington residents enjoy abundant parks and green spaces. The City of Arlington owns and manages more than 80 parks and recreation centers, with facilities that include hiking and biking trails, golf courses, playgrounds, baseball diamonds and sports courts, and picnic grounds.

Arlington is also home to a number of recreational and sports facilities, including Texas Rangers Ball Park, AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys), the International Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum, and Six Flags Over Texas amusement park.

Living

Arlington real estate runs the gamut from modest ranch-style homes to newly-constructed homes in planned developments to luxury estates. Although most of the residential real estate in Arlington consists of single family homes, there are a few condos and multi-family homes available also. The median home sales price in Arlington is $117,000.

Health, Schools, Transportation

Children of Arlington real estate owners attend the schools of one of four independent school districts--Arlington Independent School District, Grand Prairie Independent School District, Mansfield Independent School District, and Kennedale Independent School District. Arlington is also home to several private schools, such as Summit International Preparatory (a K-12 charter school) and Arlington Classics Academy (a K-7 charter school.) For higher education, Arlington residents can choose from The University of Texas at Arlington and Arlington Baptist College. Additional colleges are located in nearby Dallas and Fort Worth, including Texas Christian University and Southern Methodist University.

Arlington real estate owners don't have to worry about access to quality health care. The greater Dallas-Fort Worth area has no fewer than 134 hospitals, including some of the best-rated health care facilities in the United States. Among these are Baylor University Medical Center, the #2-ranked hospital in Texas, and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, the #3-ranked hospital in Texas.

It’s easy to get around Arlington. I-30 (also known as the Tom Landry Memorial Highway) connects the city with Fort Worth to the west and Dallas to the east. In addition, I-20 (also known as the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway) connects to the outerbelts around both cities.

Metro Arlington Xpress or MAX, launched in 2013, connects Arlington with College Park, Texas and between Arlington and the Trinity Railway Express Depot near Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. For trips outside the region, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is located about ten miles north of town. The 17,000-acre facility is the largest and busiest airport in Texas and the second busiest airport in the United States. From DFW, residents can take non-stop flights to more than 200 destinations throughout the United States, North America, and beyond.
