Affectionately known as the “Beverly Hills” of Texas, Southlake real estate boasts gourmet restaurants, upscale boutiques, and exquisite homes. Located in Tarrant and Denton counties within close proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the city has experienced tremendous growth since the 1980s. Job growth has been nearly 30 percent over the past 12 years, and the city’s population is now approximately 27,000.

Shopping and Dining

Southlake Town Square is an open-air shopping and entertainment center built around City Hall. A popular destination for shoppers throughout the region, the Southlake Towne Square is home to Banana Republic, the Apple Store, Barnes & Noble, Lucky Brand Jeans, Nine West, New York & Company, Cache, Buckle, Eddie Bauer, and a variety of independent boutiques.

Central Market and Nordstrom Rack are housed in The Shops of Southlake, located just across Southlake Boulevard from Southlake Towne Square. Additional stores include DSW Shoes, Game Stop, Kirkland Home, Learner’s Express, Pier 1, and Zales Outlet. The outdoor shopping center is also home to several dining establishments: Coal Vines, Mi Chula’s, Stir Crazy, and Yogurtland.

Southlake’s restaurants offer everything from classic American fare to fine dining and international cuisine. The Brio Tuscan Grill serves up highly rated Italian steaks, pasta, and appetizers. For a bit of Southlake history, head over to Feedstore BBQ for ribs and chopped beef. Well-known national favorites like the Cheesecake Factory, Truluck’s, Which Wich, Pei Wei, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Einstein Brothers Bagels, La Madeline French Bakery, McAllister’s Deli, Sushi Zushi, Starbucks, and Taco Bueno also can be found within the Southlake city limits. Five Guys Burgers and Fries is a local favorite for a good old-fashioned hamburger.

Parks and Recreation

The landscaped beauty of Southlake is perfect for outdoor recreation, and Southlake real estate includes 700 acres of parkland and green spaces containing six miles of park trails, 47 practice and game fields, and 10 ponds. Bicentennial Park on W. Southlake Boulevard features baseball fields, an inline hockey court, a fishing pond, multi-use trails, tennis courts, a children’s playground, and a pavilion. Residents can hike, bird watch, star gaze, and watch the Monarch butterfly migration at the Bob Jones Nature Center, a 758-acre nature preserve. The center also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops, including classes for toddlers, homeschoolers, scout groups, and elementary school students.

For golfers, Timarron Country Club is best known for its 18-hole championship golf course. Youth sports are a big deal in Southlake, particularly high school football. The Carroll High School team has been named state champion eight times! Children also can join the Southlake Stingrays Summer Swim Team or any of the recreation department’s baseball, softball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, or track teams. The Southlake Tennis Center features 19 lighted, hard courts available for hourly rentals, no membership fees or dues required.

Living

Southlake has been named the most affluent neighborhood in the country and its zip code (76092) is considered the richest zip code for its size in the nation. The average single-family home in Southlake has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. Median home cost is $650,469 in 2015, but there also are a number of million-dollar homes in the area.

Southlake real estate is made up primarily of acre, half-acre, and one-third-of-an-acre lots in master-planned residential communities. The neighborhoods of Monticello Estates, Myers Meadow, Stone Lakes, Stoneridge Lakes, South Ridge Lakes, Timber Lake, and Timarron Country Club were completed in the 1990s. Clariden Ranch, Estes Park, Stratford Park, Cambridge Place, Shady Oaks, Westwick Hills, The Enclave, Laurelwood Park, Palomar Estates, The Reserve of Southlake, and Versailles were completed in the 2000s. Adults 55 and older can purchase Villa homes and condominiums in the new Watermere at Southlake.

Schools, Health, Transportation

The schools in Southlake are widely considered to be some of the best schools in the state. In fact, many new residents move to Southlake primarily for its exemplary school system, which GreatSchools.org has rated a 10 – the highest rating available. The children of Southlake are served by four school districts, although the Carroll Independent School District serves nearly 80% of the students. Grapevine-Colleyville, Keller, and Northwest Independent School Districts serve the remaining children. Adult students can easily commute to the universities in Dallas and Fort Worth.

The Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Southlake has been named a top 100 hospital for patient experience. Hospital services include neurology, neurosurgery, gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, and emergency care.

Southlake is less than 10 miles from the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport. There’s also an Amtrak station in Fort Worth, just 17 miles from the Southlake city center.
