Named one of the “100 Best Places to Live in the United States” by Money Magazine in 2006, North Richland Hills is the third largest city in the country and boasts a thriving economy, safe neighborhoods, nationally recognized parks, and excellent schools all a short drive away from the largest land-locked metropolitan area in Texas.

1. ENTERTAINMENT AND FAMILY FUN

   

  • Beat the heat and cool off at NRH2O Family Water Park! This water park features body slides, tube slides, multi-rider slides, pools, water playgrounds, a lazy river, and the world’s largest uphill water coaster with free parking and free coolers! And that’s not the best part yet! Residents of North Richland Hills with proof of residency will receive a discount on their season passes. Be sure to check out this place on your next family day out! 
  • The home of the professional hockey team, Texas Brahmas, is also located in NRH. NYTEX Sports Centre is a 2,400-seat multi-purpose arena that offers outstanding ice-skating lessons, hosts hockey leagues, birthday parties, and other great activities for the whole family. This sports facility is also home to other sports teams like the Central Hockey League (CHL), the Jr. A Texas Brahmas, Jr. Brahmas Travel Hockey, and NYTEX Youth Hockey League.  
  • Looking for someplace to flip and bounce? Airborne Trampoline Park is the perfect place to jump, hop, tumble, and fly! This 40,000 square feet trampoline park features wall-to-wall trampolines, foam pits, giant airbags, an obstacle course, dodgeball, ninja-air course, and an unlimited amount of awesomeness!  
  • Every mid-April through mid-May, folks can enjoy Friday nights with free live music at the Sounds of Spring Concert Series.  Bring your lawn chairs and loved ones with you and relax under the stars while listening to the city’s best performers at North Richland Hills City Hall. Admission and parking are free and a variety of food trucks are also available in the area.  

2. SPORTS AND FITNESS

 

  • Whether you’re looking for a place to work out or a venue for your important life moments. North Richland Hills Centre will exceed your expectation! This premier fitness and activity center offers a place for you to work out, swim, play basketball, ping pong, have a birthday party, or even have a wedding! This is a must-try if you’re searching for a new place for your different hobbies. 
  • Tennis players will surely have a field day at the Richland Tennis Center! This public award-winning facility has 16 outdoor, lighted courts with a fully stocked Pro Shop, locker room, and showers. The center also offers tennis programs and youth summer camps for players of all ages and abilities that is supervised by tennis professionals who are certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA). You don’t have to be a North Richland Hills resident to play at RTC.  
  • If you’re into golf, the Iron Horse Golf Course is a must-visit venue! This highly rated and award-winning public golf course is located in a picturesque setting with views of the rolling terrain of the city. They feature an 18-hole, Dick Phelps-designed course and four sets of tees that golfers of all ages and abilities can enjoy. Iron Horse Golf Course also offers camps from June to August.  

3. PARKS AND TRAILS


  • North Richland Hills includes athletic fields, playgrounds, fishing ponds, and nature trails spanning over 800 acres of parkland. Nature loves have plenty of spaces to choose from over 24 beautiful parks and 9 trails. With so much to see and do, NRH parks are the perfect destination for the entire family. The picnic pavilions provide the ideal setting for an afternoon picnic or for a family gathering. The many present athletic fields are perfect for soccer or baseball games if you want to break a sweat. But one of the most exciting activities that you can do at the parks is fishing in the fishing ponds! The following parks in the NRH Park System have ponds that are suitable for fishing: Green Valley Community Park, The Lakes at HomeTown, and Linda Spurlock Park.  
  • For fur parents looking for a pet-friendly park, the Tipps Canine Hollow is the place! This off-leash dog park features a 2-acre fenced-in area for large dogs and a 1-acre fenced-in area for small dogs. There are plenty of shady spaces and benches throughout the park, along with water fountains and plastic bag stations for picking up after your pet. Keep in mind that they are closed on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for park maintenance and will open at 11 a.m. 

4. NEIGHBORHOOD AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES

 

  • Designated as one of the top ten safest neighborhoods in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, North Richland Hills offers a low cost of living, a friendly suburban feel, and plenty of economic opportunities. It’s located in Tarrant County, just minutes from Dallas and Fort Worth. People from this city describe the neighborhood as quiet, friendly, peaceful, family-friendly, and safe.   • Take advantage of the several services that city library has to offer! There’s a book club, chess club, computer classes, babygarten, book fest, and more!   
  • Located on the second floor of the North Richland Hills Library, The Maker Spot is a community workspace where library cardholders can come to create and collaborate. It was funded by a $75,000 Special Projects grant from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission and the Institute for Museum and Library Services to implement and develop different equipment.   • North Richland Hills also caters to the care of the elderly. The NRH Senior Center is right next to the North Richland Hills Centre and offers a variety of amenities to meet the needs of people 55 and older. Some events and activities that this senior facility host include a monthly luncheon, exercise programs for all levels, art, sewing, knitting, woodworking groups, educational programs, DFW area trips, and so much more! 

5. ART AND CULTURE


  • The city has a deep passion for the arts. In 2002, the Art in Public Spaces Program was launched to beautify public areas by integrating art into daily life and to create a distinctive identity for the community. 
  1. An innovative way of displaying art implemented by the city is through their Electronic Billboard Art Exhibition. Commuters can admire the artwork with advertising on electric billboards while cruising along Loop 820. The billboards will run at various locations from July to August 31, 2022, for free! This program aims to encourage and support creativity in the community.  
  1. Another art installment that can be seen in the city is their Permanent Collection.  It is composed of 22 artworks that include murals, paintings, installations, and sculptures by outstanding nationally-renowned artists and can be found in parks, rail stations, and public buildings.  
  • In 2007, North Richland Hills also launched the NRH Signal Art Program, which aims to enhance the Art in Public Spaces Program. This program works with local artists to design original artwork for traffic signal boxes located throughout the city with rotating exhibits that change approximately every five years. The current NRH Signal Art Program installations feature “Music Legends” in addition to three North Richland Hills schools. 
  • Common Ground NRH Community Garden is a place where members of the community can share photos, tips, and tricks on how to foster a garden. It’s organized and run by a garden council that is made up of 7 volunteers. The community garden provides gardening tips, answers questions about vegetable varieties and problems, and even has a newsletter, blog, and seminars! It’s the perfect community for new gardeners who are just starting out.
